Hadleigh Farmers Club was established in December 1839 “to promote the cause of agriculture by the discussion of subjects, and disseminating of information relative to its practice”.
The Hadleigh Farmers’ Agricultural Association (HFAA) organises members’ events on a monthly basis. The majority of events are open evening talks which touch on many aspects of farming life. There are also larger scale activities such as clay pigeon shooting and golf days which are always popular with members.
The events are open to all members and their guests. The programme covers a good mixture of educational and entertaining subjects to appeal across the membership base. Because the evenings regularly attract around 50 attendees, they give members the opportunity to meet up and socialise. The majority of evening talks are held at the Hadleigh Cricket Club which offers a licensed bar for refreshments.
Membership to the Hadleigh Farmers’ Agricultural Association (HFAA) is open to all, whether or not you have a connection to the farming world. Membership applications are reviewed by the committee at meetings in January, April and September and approved by the commitee prior to acceptance after which payment will be requested. Please email secretary@hadleighshow.co.uk for a membership form or download one from here
The Hadleigh Farmers Agricultural Association is an active one. The annual calendar of events includes meetings and talks on a variety of different topics of interest, as well as a number of special events every year. These include clay pigeon shooting, a golf day, a winter drinks party and a dinner in November. All of these events take place in or near Hadleigh and all members and their guests are welcome. They are well attended and offer members a chance to meet, get to know each other and catch up.
Joining the Association also means that you will receive the newsletter, which is sent out three times a year.
Members and vice presidents* are entitled to free admission to the Hadleigh Show. They receive access to the members area with licensed bar and caterer. They are also entitled to reduced price entry in some classes.
To join us, please contact the secretary for a membership application form or download one here. The secretary will raise your application at the next committee meeting for approval and you will be notified shortly afterwards. Annual subscriptions cost £45pp and are due on 1st January. Any new applications must be submitted and paid by 31st January annually to ensure you receive your free ticket to the Hadleigh Show. No applications will be processed after the January review meeting until June of the membership year.
*Vice presidents are by invitation of the committee.
